The main raw materials of plastic hangers are PS, ABS and Pp, and the auxiliary materials are PVC\EVA and silica gel.
PS plastic, also known as polystyrene plastic, has a density of 1.04~1.09g/cm3, sinks in water, a shrinkage rate of 0.4%, stable dimensions, and is a transparent and shiny granular solid. PS has a transparency of 88%~92%, which is the most transparent plastic. Highly transparent clothes hangers use this material. The PS material is easy to burn, and continues to burn after leaving the fire, with yellow flames, black smoke, and a strong smell. PS material is easy to turn yellow and fade when exposed to the sun for a long time, and its wear resistance is not as good as ABS and PP, but PS material has good thermoplastic fluidity, good processing performance, easy coloring, and good dimensional stability. It is especially suitable for injection molding. The price is moderate, so plastic hangers use this material most often. PS alone is brittle, especially in low temperature environments, adding a small amount of other substances to PS, such as butadiene (K glue), can significantly reduce brittleness and improve impact toughness. The mechanical properties of this impact-resistant PS are greatly improved. , We will also add this material as appropriate to improve the toughness of PS. The surface of PS plastic hanger can be flocked and electroplated, but it is not suitable for spraying to make hand paint and bronze effect.
ABS plastic is an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer with a density of 1.05g/cm3, it will sink to water, shrinkage rate is 0.4%~0.8%, and its dimensions are stable. When ABS burns, it will produce a yellow flame with black smoke, giving off a strong alkali smell similar to rubber, which cannot be automatically extinguished. ABS has high strength, good toughness, easy processing and molding, outstanding physical mechanical and thermal properties, and is a wide-ranging engineering plastic. The surface of ABS plastic hangers can be flocked, electroplated, or sprayed. It is suitable for high-end effects such as hand-feel paint, bronze and wood grain. It has the best color and style adaptability. It is usually used as the raw material for high-end plastic hangers. Although ABS has many of the above advantages, it is easy to age under the action of ultraviolet light outdoors, but it is still better than PP. ABS material is the most expensive of the three materials, so price-sensitive customers generally choose PS material.
Pp plastic, also known as polypropylene plastic or pleated plastic, has a density of 0.9-0.91g/cm3 and floats in water. The biggest feature is excellent resistance to tortuosity, and it can be folded in half repeatedly without damage or even deformation. But its shrinkage rate is 1.8%~2.5%, which is much higher than that of PS and ABS, so PP products are easy to shrink and deform during cooling. PP material is easy to burn and continues to burn after leaving the fire. The upper part of the flame is yellow and the lower part is blue. There is little or almost no black smoke, there is melting and dripping and there is a smell of petroleum. PP has good heat resistance and can be used for a long time at 100 degrees, but it has poor cold resistance and becomes brittle at low temperature. Therefore, the raw material is generally added with 1% to 4% polyethylene to form a copolymer to enhance cold resistance. The weather resistance of PP is not as good as ABS, and it is easy to light aging. Polypropylene has low transparency, low gloss and low rigidity, so the common white translucent plastic hangers are made of PP materials. PP material has excellent chemical stability, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and is not suitable for flocking and oil spraying, otherwise the adhesion is not strong, but it can be electroplated. PP material is the most friendly to people and the environment, and can be used in daily necessities such as high-temperature milk bottles, water cups, and plastic lunch boxes. Compared with PS, PP is the most cost-effective material with abrasion resistance and scratch resistance. Among the three materials, PP is the cheapest. However, due to the problem of easy shrinkage and poor adhesion during production, it is not used as much as PS.
On the auxiliary materials, PVC is usually added with plasticizer to make it softer. It is used to produce non-slip rubber accessories installed on the shoulders of clothes hangers. It is a relatively economical raw material. EVA and silica gel are also used as raw materials for clothes hanger accessories, and they are not used as much as PVC.
Through the above comparison, we can choose the appropriate hanger material according to the positioning of the required product.
